What is the cause of no periods yet a pregnancy tests shows negative?

Answer:
You can skip periods due to stress but if you have taken your test really quickly try it again in a few days
pregnancy tests can sometimes be ineffective. You should probably talk to your doctor. They can give you a better answer than I can.
many women athletes have no periods if they are training hard
1) false-negative test result in which you do not have enough of the pregnancy-related hormones in your urine to detect a test

2) stress could cause you to have a late/skipped period

3) more exercise than usual could cause the late/skipped period the same way stress does

4) stress about being pregnant can sometimes cause your body to act as if it's pregnant
Get a BLOOD pregnancy test. Two of my six children came out as 'negatives' in the urine tests--blood doesn't lie.
The menstrual cycle can be messed up by stress, illness, poor diet, hormonal imbalances, or going on or off the Pill. If you suspect pregnancy, use a home test with your first pee in the morning because the urine is more concentrated then. Or you can go to your doctor and ask for a quantitative beta hCG blood test that measures the pregnancy hormone in your blood. Good luck.
How regular are you? I have never had regular periods and I am 37 years old. With my second pregnacy I spotted (and thought they were my periods) for the first 5 months. Big surprise when I caught my stomach profile coming out of the shower! There are alot of reasons. Stress can cause missed periods. If you are really worried, talk to your doctor.
A severe eating disorder can cause your periods to stop. Or if you're malnourished for some other reason. If you have an eating disorder and your period stops, this is very serious - please see a doctor! Also, sometimes a pregnancy test can be wrong - better to see the doctor to double check.
sounds like you are not ovulating...sometimes stess can stop a period...or something in the uterus is not functioning properly...I have a freind who tried black cohosh and it regulated her periods when this happened to her...hope it helps
It could be that you are pregnant, but the human growth horomone is too low for the pregnancy to detect it. If you don't think it could be due to diet, stress, or exercise factors go get a blood test done.
mental stress and strain
anxiety and exitement
get over it and u will be fine
There are so many reasons for this. If you have missed more than one - I would see your doctor.
Stress, weight loss, illnesses, over tired, etc.
Some months you might just spot and then the next month you may have more bleeding than usual. That is 'normal'
You could be pregnant and it just didn't show up - you have to be careful what time of the month, and time of the day to have more accurate tests.
Most importantly - if you are really worried about getting pregnant that worry and stress can actually keep you from having your period!
Secondary amenorrhea, or a lack of a period in women who have had their period before, not due to pregnancy, has numerous explanations. If the person is still within five years of their first menses, the menstrual cycle could easily still be regulating itself. Often times, even in more "experienced" women, menstruation can be a month, even three months, late without any true reasons. In these cases, it is just the body acting in a different manner. Other non-problematic explanations could be that it is environmental. If you are exercising too heavily, eating too little, or practicing another dietary change, you may be inhibiting your body's ability to menstruate. Emotional stress also alters your flow. As menstruation is a taxing process (building up extra blood vessels in the uterus, then shedding it should it go unused via pregnancy), and only occurs if the rest of the body has enough resources from food to spare. That said, eating less than 1,000 calories per day, which seems to be the minimal necessary requirement, will likely cause missed menstruations. It is important to remember during these times that ovulation, the maturation of an egg, is still occurring, and pregnancy is still possible, so people experiencing a lack of menstruation should still practice safe sexual activities.
Another reason could be menopause. Menopause has been reported in, very rarely, women at age 25. Some women are born with less eggs than others, and thus go into menopause much earlier than others. Likely, though, this is not your case, as you are still worried about pregnancy, but if you experience symptoms typical of menopause (mood swings, hot flashes, et cetera), there are different methods to determine whether or not this is the case.
Illegal drug use, especially marijuana, can slow the growth of the endometrium, the uterine lining. Hormonal glands may also be out of balance, in which case other symptoms such as a change in breast size or unusual hair growth may occur alongside. It may also be the result of ovarian cancer or irritation of the endometrium, though unlikely.
My main advice is to allow a maximum of two months for menstruation to restart, and during this time examine your lifestyle. If, after two months, there are still no signs of a period, visit your doctor or gynecologist, who can perform simple tests to determine the cause. As secondary amenorrhea is a symptom rather than an illness, it could prove invaluable. Until the two month deadline, though, relax and keep on the lookout for any other changes in your body.
It may be stress.have you tried another test.Good Luck
