What is cause of and how to get rid of vaginal odor after sex?

Have had this before. Dr. said due to overgrowth of bacteria but no reason given except, "it just happens". Was tested for STD's but that wasn't it. So what causes this? How to get rid of the smell other than douching after sex each time which is said not to be good because the body then is unable to "cleanse" itself? Why does the bacteria overgrow and where does the bacteria come from?
Answer:
If your doctor said it is caused by bacteria, you need to be meticulous about hygiene. Your partner must also follow strict hygiene as he can give it to you. Men often have no symptoms but they do have the infection. You must both see the doctor for medication. If you get treated and he does not, he will give the infection to you again. Try this:

(1) Always wipe from front to back.
(2) Make sure that your partner's private area is clean. He should wash before the act.
(3) Urinate immediately after the encounter.
(4) Eat lots of yogurt and drink cranberry juice.
(5) Try over the counter suppository for infection.
(6) Wear cotton underwear and dry it on the highest setting on your clothes dryer.
(7) Change wash cloths and bath towels frequently. Allow them to completely dry out before using them again, since wet towels breed bacteria.
(8) Avoid douching because it removes good bacteria and makes you more susceptible to infections.
(9) Limit no. of sexual partners.

well, after your done sexing somone, there is always bacteria involed, your going skin to skin, and inside, there is bacteria in warm places, and to get rid of it, perfume
Actually its probably from your diet. You might want to try a diet for candida( yeast overgrowth). Basically that diet is you avoid foods with sugar in them..and yeast also. Or you could try going to a health foods store and buying yogurt that has "probiotics " in it. It will help balance the bacteria in your body. You will feel better too. You will find that if you pay attention to what you eat that your health will improve.
probiotics:
eat things with live cultures in them i.e. yogurt, danactive, buttermilk etc. There isn't a specific kind of yogurt that has probiotics... they all do.

plain flavored yogurt or a tampon soaked in buttermilk in the vag are old home remedies.
Try a vaginal cleaning pad. My cousin says they work for her.
Two things that will help, both you and your guy take an herbal supplement called acidopholus, the directions are on the bottle and also you both could eat yogurt which controls bacteria. Also, this sounds weird but shave down there.between your legs gets sweaty and the hair makes it a breeding ground for bacteria...keep it shave and you will feel cleaner, it feels uncomfortable for a month or two till you get used to it, but trust me, it feels better! I am super clean and do not have any bacteria issues, so trust me it works. You also could get an over the counter cream for women for yeast infections. Good luck.
i think you were infected from other guy who as infection.
