What is causing these cramps? What can I do about them?

Ive been off my menstrual period for over a week now...and I seldom cramp even when I am on my period. Today, I'm having awful cramps and its almost unbearable!! Shooting pains.what is causing this now? What can I do? Im at work and I feel like Im in labor. HELP!
Answer:
Ibuprofen works wonders for my cramps. Take 3 of the 200 mg pills. And since you've stopped your period, you should maybe go see your doc/gyno.
If they are more to one side, close to your ovaries it could be pain associated with ovulating. I have pitiful pain every month. And the timing sounds about right. You could always go and ask the Dr, just to make sure though! I pop tylenol and a hot water bottle is my best friend...LOL...
Best wishes!

"How is painful ovulation / mittelschmerz diagnosed?
Ovulation usually occurs about two weeks after the first day of each menstrual cycle, so the timing of the pain makes mittelschmerz easy to recognize."

sometimes it means you have diahrea. (i appologize if i didnt spell that right)
well, it could be a few things. may sound weird, but it could be gas or constipation, or it may be a female issue. my best suggestion is to take some advil now, and when you get home maybe umm... take the necessary steps to make sure its not gas or constipation. if the pain subsides, leave it be and keep the date in mind so you can see how you feel next month (to see if its recurring) or if it doesnt subside, go to the doc!

i had a cyst burst about 2 months ago (which is fairly normal in most females i believe, but can be painful). i spotted for about a day and had quite a bit of cramping.

good luck and i hope you feel better soon!
If you do not want the pain killer, I would suggest a few natural herbal solutions that I have read on Squidoo recently:

The first one is Bak Fong Yinn, it is an herbal formula that promotes women's health by alleviating problems like inefficient blood production, irregular menstruation, menstrual cramps, white discharge, headaches, and poor skin condition. It is one of the most renowned Chinese remedies for all woman's menstrual disorders, including dysmennorrhea, amenorrhea, menorrhagia, scanty menstruation, and premenstrual syndrome (PMS).

The next one is Jamu Haid, a kind of Javanese Herbs. Javanese calls Jamu for herbal remedies, without chemist material as additive. Jamu has traditional connotation, because Jamu is ancient tradition, before modern pharmacology comes in Indonesia. Some formulas have a hundred years old and are used until now.
Painful menstruation is caused by abnormally heavy bleeding. Jamu Haid has been traditionally used to relieve menstrual cramps. It contains tumeric, which normalizes blood flow, while other herbs in this supplement help relax muscles in the uterus to relieve abdominal spasms.
